A regular cab dually with short wheelbase. Fix up the 6 liter Powerstroke and that’d be a damn fun truck. Only 143k miles too. Seller wants $13.5

Want to hear something sad? I almost bought a nearly identical truck in 2009 with 30k miles on it. Single cab (shortest wheelbase possible), lightly lifted, bigger tires, 4x4, and 6.0L diesel. Price? $11k

That is a nice looking truck.

I worked for a company which had a powerstroke equipped Ford of that era. They ended up putting around 15 grand into the engine over the course of a few “repairs” none of which actually completely fixed whatever was wrong with the engine. They then unloaded it at a huge loss.

Between that experience, and the videos showing the OEM fast and furious esque flames shooting out of the exhaust because quality is job 1, I figure maybe ford diesels aren’t for me.

I’m trying to figure out what the use case would be for a truck configuration like this. The only thing I can think of is it might work as a dedicated truck for towing 5th wheel trailers (though I do have a vague memory of a youtube video with an RC car on a treadmill where shortening the wheelbase of the tow vehicle made it get pushed all over the place by the trailer so I might be wrong on that idea). The tiny bed means you can’t stick a massive amount of stuff in the bed so you can’t use it’s capability that way.

I think the actual problem here is that I am trying to apply logic to diesel pickup truck buyers.

Just to be that guy, I don’t think anyone makes regular cab, short bed, duallys.

This is what a custom one looks like.

The saddest part of that is if you had bought it you could probably sell it today for what you paid

Miss understood. In my mind nothing with a long bed is short, but I get what you mean now.

well they had some issues but are easily fixed. EGR delete and upgraded oil cooler will fix most issues. Now if you want to run 200hp tunes then you need to pull heads and replaced injectors
